What is acupuncture?
The practice of acupuncture is essentially the act of stimulation, usually by means of needles, but also sometimes entailing the application of heat, pressure, electrical stimulation or light waves onto specific spots on surface sites of the skin, on mucous membranes or on subcutaneous tissues of the human body for the purpose of improving health or relieving pain.
Stimulation of pressure points, whether they are along or independant of the body’s meridian lines, is intended to relieve pain, inflammation and irritation and / or to promote the vitality of a region, organ or function of the organism.
